About The Ford EcoSport
The new compact crossover Ford Ecosport is built on the same platform as the Ford Fiesta. You can also recall the prevalent Ford Fusion model created on its basis, which was distinguished by a high seating position and a good-sized interior with a compact size. So Ecosport was not made from scratch, and the successful history of its predecessors ensured its success. EcoSport dimensions (length/width/height) are 4241 / 1765 / 1696 mm.
Exterior
Its ground clearance is increased to 200 mm, and the wide range of interior configuration options, due to the folding rear seat, allow, if necessary, to expand the luggage space up to 1238 litres. Having all-wheel drive pushes the boundaries of what is possible.
Accessories
The Titanium version is distinguished by rear parking sensors, cruise control and the SYNC multimedia system with Bluetooth and voice control in English. The Titanium Plus package represents the top level – here, there is a Keyless Entry system with an engine start button, rain and light sensors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and leather-trimmed seats.
Engine
The model is equipped with a 1.6-litre engine with 122 hp in the most affordable version. The transmission is a 5-speed “mechanics” or a 6-speed “automatic”, and in the Trend, Plus trims levels and above, among other things, there is also a preselective 6-speed PowerShift gearbox. All of these versions are offered only in front-wheel drive modification. Four-wheel drive is the privilege of a two-litre engine with a return of 140 hp. It is available starting with Trend Plus and is only offered with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Suspension Parts
Since the Ford Ecosport is based on the Fiesta design, the chassis is similar here, although it is entirely only in the front-wheel drive version (pillars in front and a torsion beam in the rear), and in the all-wheel drive version, the end has a multi-link suspension. The chassis is adapted for South African operating conditions, with a change in the stiffness of the springs and shock absorbers. Sensitive reactions to the steering wheel give electric power while providing fuel economy. Of the off-road indicators, the manufacturer recommends paying attention to the geometric parameters – a clearance of 200 mm, and the ability to overcome a ford with a depth of 550 mm. Intelligent four-wheel drive Ford Ecosport is organized using an interaxle electromagnetic clutch with forced rear axle locking.
Road Safety
The essential equipment of the Ford Ecosport includes an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), frontal airbags for the driver and front passenger, and ISOFIX mounts. Starting with the Titanium configuration, the car has side airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, and front and rear side curtain airbags. In the crash tests of the Euro NCAP organization, the car won four stars.
