Significant changes have taken place in the cab of the pickup truck. The new centre console between the seats becomes even more functional, providing more than 70 different ways to use it with sizeable tiered storage compartments, multiple cup holders and multiple chargers (including a 110V AC source), air supply system for rear passengers. Expensive versions of Lariat and King Ranch will offer leather seats with heating and cooling, 10-way power adjustment, and unique exterior trim details. MyFord’s system puts electronics at the forefront of providing information to the driver and includes a 6.5-inch touchscreen and a 4.2-inch LCD multi-function display in the instrument cluster.

Engine & Gearbox

The latest Power Stroke V8 diesel engine with a displacement of 6.7 litres replaced the previous 6.4-litre unit. Power increase from 350 to 390 hp (997 Nm) allowed for best-in-class towing capacity: 26,400 pounds for cab chassis and 24,400 pounds for pickups. Aa year later, the power was increased to 400 “horses”, and since the 2015 model year, the unithas produceds 440 hp. and 1,166 lb. In addition to the turbodiesel, two petrol engines were available for the 2010-2016 Super Duty series.

The role of the base is now performed by the 6.2-litre Boss V8 engine with 390 hp, compatible with E85 ethanol. This unit replaces the 5.4 litre Triton V8 engine. The second version of the gasoline engine – 6, 8-liter Triton V10 – inherited from its predecessor unchanged, available in F450 and F550 models. All models for sale in the US use a new 6-speed automatic gearbox with individual clutch packages for each unit.

Suspension Parts

Ford Super Duty pickups retain a robust and reliable suspension system that includes the proprietary Twin-I-Beam independent design (double I-beam) on the rear-wheel drive F-250/F-350 or a solid axle (F-250/F-350 4×4, F- 450 4×2 and 4×4). Behind – a robust spring suspension.

For some models, a rear axle with an electronic differential lock is available, and for the F-350 DRW/F-450, a self-locking differential is open. This generation offers five wheelbase lengths – 3480, 3602, 4013, 3967 and 4379. There are three cab options: single Regular, extended SuperCab and full-size Crew Cab.

Accessories

Depending on the cabin type, base, and platform, the total length of the pickup body reaches 5781-7277 mm. For the convenience of work, the manufacturer offers several options: a folding handrail and an anti-slip step built into the back,

Road Safety

Standard on the Super Duty Series as of MY 2011 includes an anti-lock braking system on all four wheels, stability and trailer sway control systems, a start assist system, complete set of airbags (frontal, side in the front seats and side curtain airbags), system alerts after an accident. XLT models and above have an integrated trailer brake controller. 

With the FX4 package, a descent assistance system is available – press a button, and the automation will maintain the truck’s speed on steep descents. The Lariat comes standard with rear parking sensors. Options include a rearview camera (standard on King Ranch).
