Accessories

The 2009 Ford F150 differs quite radically from the cars of the previous generation. The pickup truck has a more chopped front end; large mirrors now have a new shape, like the Super Duty; another feature taken over from the “heavy” series is the stepped front glass line.

The accessories of expensive versions include automatic steps along the entire length of both doors. The front panel of the cabin features an overhanging visor, a more straightforward style with industrial design elements. At the same time, soft leather with bright stitching and polished aluminium panels combined with wood and other accents speak of luxury. The optional Sync media system provides new features, including wireless communication, voice control and a large 8-inch screen.

Engine

The base versions of the F150 pickup at the start of sales were equipped with a 4.6-litre V8 engine, which was available in a 248 horsepower version, and with a new three-valve cylinder head design, power increased to 292 hp.

An alternative was a 5.4-litre three-valve Triton V8 engine, the output of which reached 310 hp. A manual transmission was no longer offered, so all motors only worked with a 4-speed “automatic” or more advanced 6-speed. The new automatic transmission reduces noise levels, improves shifting smoothness, improves fuel economy, and guarantees high towing capacity.

Suspension Parts

If we talk about the features of the Ford F150 chassis of this generation, an upgraded double wishbone suspension with short and long arms and coil springs is used at the front, similar to the 2008 Ford Expedition.

The new steering mechanism provides more precise control than its predecessor. The design of the rear suspension has also been changed – shock absorbers are installed outside the frame spars, and the springs become longer and slightly pushed forward. In addition to improving ride quality, this improves body control when fully loaded. The current generation F150 has a wheelbase of 3195-4145 mm. The length of the machine is 5413–6360 mm.

Road Safety

The Ford F150 gets an all-new body structure, an industry first using ultra-high strength steel. In addition to two front airbags, standard equipment includes new side airbags in the front seats and side curtain airbags. Safety Canopy for improved head protection in rollovers and side impacts.

The stabilization system consists of an automatic roll compensation function (Roll Stability Control). The car received high marks when tested in crash tests under the rules of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety IIHS.
